Friends With Benefits Over 60: Desire Doesn't Retire

Grown-up company, regular intimacy and nobody moving into your spare room.

Yes, it's very much a thing

Senior friends with benefits is a regular, no strings sexual friendship between people in their sixties and seventies. Two grown-ups who enjoy each other's company, meet when it suits them and keep their own homes, money and families separate.

It suits a stage of life with more time to yourself and fewer obligations. Retirement opens up the weekdays. Many people have been widowed or divorced and want closeness again without starting over. Others are happily single and simply miss touch, flirting and good sex. None of that needs a wedding ring, a joint account or a conversation with the grandchildren.

You'll be in good company

Older Friends with Benefits has an older crowd, and that's the point of the place. More than a third of our members are 65 or over, and nearly six in ten are 55 or over. Here's the full age mix:

Under 3511%
35 to 4411%
45 to 5419%
55 to 6423%
65 and over36%

Age shares of all our members, from our member records.

Prefer someone a little younger? There are members in their forties and fifties too, so set your age range as wide as you like. Read about friends with benefits over 50 too.

Back in the game after years away

If the last time you asked someone out involved a landline, a few things have changed. Introductions start with a profile and a message rather than across a crowded bar, photos matter more than they used to, and people often chat for a few days before they meet. What hasn't changed is everything that counts: good manners, a sense of humour and the spark you feel when you finally sit across a table from someone.

Take it one step at a time. Put up a recent photo that looks like you on a good day, write a few honest lines about what you're after, and reply to the people who catch your eye. Our profile tips walk you through it, and nobody will mind if you're a little rusty. Most people your age are too.

Bodies change, and that's fine

Sex in your sixties can be slower, more playful and a good deal more honest than it was at thirty. A few practical things help:

  • Erections. Problems are very common in men over 40, and the NHS says it's worth seeing a GP if they keep happening. Some treatments can be bought from a pharmacy.
  • Dryness after the menopause. It's common, and moisturisers and lubricants are sold at any pharmacy without a prescription. A GP can prescribe hormonal treatments too.
  • Sexual health. Pregnancy may be off the table, but infections aren't. Use condoms with a new partner and get tested; NHS sexual health clinics are open to everyone, whatever their age.

Our guide to safer sex over 50 has the detail, and our friends with benefits rules over 60 cover how to agree what you both want.

Making it work in real life

Daytime is fine

Many senior arrangements happen over a long lunch on a weekday. No babysitters, no traffic, and you're both home before dark if you'd like to be.

Families don't need to know

Your love life is your business. Usernames, town-only locations and blocking keep things private, and our page on discreet friends with benefits covers the rest.

Distance matters more than you think

If you don't drive at night, look for someone within an easy bus or train ride. You can search by town and see where members live on our near-me page.
